Failed to send a notification about the task execution status

Thread needs solution

Dear all,

I am currently experiencing an email notification issue with Acronis Backup & Recovery 10 (Build 10.0.11345).

Any backup performed, where the destination is set to a tape drive (in this case, a HP DAT160), will fail to send an email notification upon competition.

I can confirm the SMTP settings are correct, to the point where I can successfully receive a test notification when editing the backup plan.

The strange thing is if I setup an identical backup plan, but change the destination to an external hard disk, I receive the notification.

Thank you for finding time to report about the issue and for the detailed description! I entirely understand your concern and will be glad to assist you.

Unfortunately due to the lack of investigation information it is difficult to identify the reason of the problem, so we will need to take a closer look at the issue.

First of all, please kindly check whether you have enabled validation of the backup, when created the task. Should it be enabled, please, turn it off and reproduce the issue to see whether it still persists.

Should the notification still fail to be sent, please kindly provide us with the following information:

   1. Acronis Info from the machine in question.
   2. Wireshark logs: a) when you are sending the test notification b) when you create the backup to the external drive and the notification sent successfully c) when you save the backup to the tape and notification fails

After that please contact me directly via PM with the information gathered, we will review it and identify the cause of the problem, which will help us to find a suitable solution for your particular case.

I am also having this issue.

I am running Backup & Recovery 10 Advanced Server Small Busniess Server Edition on SBS 2003 and have just had Update 5 (build 10.0.13762) installed Acronis Technical Support.

I have deleted all tasks in the "Backup Plans and Tasks" window and created a fresh backup scheme. This creates a full backup Mon-Fri on a schedule with a validation task running after the backup is completed. The backup archive is stored on an external USB HDD.

When I send a test email, B&R10 says it has sent succesfully and I recieve the test message in my Outlook.

The backup and validation run fine with a warning. The warning is "Failed to send a notification about the execution status" and I get the error code 9,437,185(0x900001) and module 144.

But still no email telling me if the backup had succeeded or not...

Any help much appreciated!
