Failing to backup to Linux based NAS

Thread needs solution

I have recently installed Acronis Backup and Recovery 10 (build 11133) and having major issues with Authentication when saving to a Linux Based NAS.
I am considering going back to version 9 that way I will at least have it working.
Firstly while creating a PLAN, the option “Where to Back up”, I included the network path of the NAS and it was unable to locate it. When I pressed OK, it gives me an error

“The vault you have selected is unavailable at the moment. Select another vault”

I also used the IP address of the NAS with the same outcome. After contacting Datastor, they informed me there were authentication issues with Linux based NAS’s and a solution is to create a local user on the NAS and use that user to pass the authentication process when prompted. This failed and still doesn’t explain why it could not find the NAS in the first place.

I used FTP as an alternative method to find the NAS and it was still unable to locate it, manually entering the full path did let me save the option “where to save” but this later failed when the backup was established.

Notes to consider:
• Pinging the NAS is successful
• START > RUN > PATHNAME is successful
• There is no real security on the NAS, it is assessable by all
• Mapping a drive succeeds and does not prompt me for a username and password
• Adding the NAS path in “Where to backup” fails every time and cannot locate it
• The NAS is a “Thecus N5200PRO”

Hi, I also had issues backing up to my QNAP Nas box sometimes it will prompt me for user name and password sometimes it won't, when I first setup Nas Vault the only way was to map the network drive but I don't have to do that any more after I changed from a western digital green to a faster WD black and recreated the Vault, don't think this was related though, I found Backing up to Nas a bit hit & miss at first, but now I get no problems. One more thing I always login to Nas as Admin for Acronis backups.
Sorry can't offer any real help someone will surely post soon.

My issue has been RESOLVED
i thought ill put it up here just incase anyone else gets this error

As mentioned on my original post, i was unable to see the NAS when given the option on where to save it to. Obviously there were some authentication issues and it was fixed by changing the domain name on the NAS from internal.companyname to just companyname.

After this it was able to see the NAS correctly and authentication issues were resolved.
Hope this helps anyone with related issues.
