Faulting application mms.exe

Thread needs solution

I have two Win2008 servers that will not run the MMS service. It will start ok, but after a few seconds it quits and this is logged in Event Viewer:

Faulting application mms.exe, version 10.0.0.11639, time stamp 0x4bb3aa71, faulting module MSVCR80.dll, version 8.0.50727.4016, time stamp 0x49cc5361, exception code 0x40000015, fault offset 0x000046b4, process id 0x10cc, application start time 0x01cb3261203cf0ea.

Any thoughts?

Same problem here on 11.5 (17438)

Faulting application mms.exe, version 11.0.0.17438, time stamp 0x4fbb7633, faulting module mms.exe, version 11.0.0.17438, time stamp 0x4fbb7633, exception code 0xc0000005, fault offset 0x003f86f0, process id 0x1b68, application start time 0x01cda1490e44ef4b.

It seems this issue is still persistant in newer versions.

17438 is not 11.5. If you installed 11.5 and mms.exe still has version 11.0 , something was not installed correctly.
