Format disk before Acronis re-installation?

Thread needs solution

We have a Dell computer (Win XP) that get hung up very often. We have
successfully run all hardware tests suggested by the Dell support service and
finally have been told by them to reinstall the OS (win XP). As this solution would imply
re-installing all programs, we would like to know if making an image with our
Acronis, formating the disk and installing back from the image would be
useful and sensible. Perhaps this way we could solve the problem avoiding having
to re-install all programs?

Thanks
Agus

Merci d'avance.

Hello Agustin and Leon!

Thank you for opening the thread!

Agustin, I regret to inform you that in case the reason was in the incorrect behavior of the applications (mess in the drivers or registry, etc.) backing them up and recovering won't help with this scenario - reinstallation of the OS helps to put in order the machine.

I would rather suggest you to create the backup of the data - or the entire machine just to have it close at hand in case if something goes wrong.

Please keep me updated regarding the case and let me know in case you have any additional questions - I will be glad to help.

Unfortunately due to the lack of investigation information it is hard to identify the reason, so could you please kindly provide us with some additional information?
