Full-Backup on Buffalo-NAS fails, Differential Backup works

Thread needs solution

Dear,

I use B&R 11.0.17440 on 4 Windows 2008R2-Servers to do Backups, Target is a Buffalo Terastation III with 4 2GB HDDs which build a Raid5-Array. The Share on the NAS is configured as a personal Depot in B&R.

From Monday to Friday I do differential-Backups which works fine.
On Saturday/Sunday I do full Backups of the Servers. 2 Servers every Sunday, the other ones in a weekly change. What happens is that - nealry every time - during the first Full-Backup the Share on NAS is not available any longer. B&R error log:

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Befehl 'Backup' ist fehlgeschlagen.
Zusätzliche Info:

I think that this does not point out more than that the share is not available any longer.

What I am then able to do:
Even if the share is not available at that point I CAN acces the WebInterface of the NAS. There I can initiate a Restart of the box. After that is complete I can start my Full Backup again and it will work.
When I do a Restart of the NAS on Friday prior to the Backups, the Full Backups on Saturday/Sunday some Times work, some Times not.

I tried a lot (Firmware-Update, deleting and rebulding the Raid on the NAS, etc.) together with Buffalo-Support, but nothing helped. Buffalo then pointed out, that this can ony be an incampatibility between Buffalo and B&R (which I can´t believe). However: Does anybody have an Idea?

Thanks in forward

TJ

Hello TJ,

Thank you for your posting! I've discussed the situation with our experts and would suggest testing the latest version Acronis Backup 11.7. According to my colleagues Acronis Backup & Recovery 11 used to have difficulties in operating with network resources and the way we process remote locations has been significantly optimized.

Thank you,

Dear,

since I began to restart my Buffalo-NAS every Saturday afternoon, a half day prior the full backups on Sunday Morning, all Backups are "Working like a charme". Restarting my NAS on Fridays, which ist TWO days prior the full backups on Sunday, seems to be not enough.

Still using B&R 11, no change here, no update to 11.7 or 12.0.
