Help With Backup Strategy?

Thread needs solution

I'm working on a project using two VM hosts, each with local storage running VMware Essentials. I have two Acronis appliances setup, one on each host.
I have one particular VM that I'd like to make as highly available as possible within this setup.

The backup strategy I'm aiming for is three part:

- Create a rolling set of eight backups - one each half hour between 8 AM and 2 AM. Giving me the option to restore from 30 minute increments up to 4 hours in the past.

- Create a single daily backup at 6 AM each day

- Create a single weekly backup on Monday at 8 AM

How can I go about setting this up both to assure that the recovery points clean themselves up as I'd expect (I should have no more than 10 points at any given time with this strategy) and that the backups are done in the most efficient way possible?

I'm not following entirely with the cleanup schedule within the setup and how to make this work for me.

Much appreciated.

Note that if you are concerned by the space these 10 backups occupy, you can set some of backup to be incremental, I'd do it with hourly backups, i.e. custom scheme full at 8 AM and then incrementals, cleanup to delete archives older than one day with 'wait till all dependencies become subject to deletion' then you' have no more than two fulls. Then create two other separate backup plans (with two other archives) with only fulls for daily and weekly backups and necessary retention rules.
