How do I only install the agent on Backup and recovery workstation?

Thread needs solution

We recently upgraded this week from Ghost 2003 to Acronis Backup and Recovery 10 Workstation, we have 200 machines.
Trying to get my head around it.

Basically when I use to install file, it installs all the components including the management console, UR, bootmedia builder etc, does not give me an option of which components to install, however I only want the management console etc available to the desktop admin users, not everyone.
But the install does not seem to give a choice?
I uninstalled everything manually through add/remove programs in control panel, except for the the tray monitor and agent, but I'm not sure if anything was actually running, I am a bit confused.

Can I actually do remote admin tasks? on my management console I can only see my machine.
I am hoping we do not need ADVANCED workstation for this.

Confused desktop admin!!

Hello HBF Desktop,

Thank you for your post. I will certainly help you with your question.

To answer your main query, yes, if you want to manage remote computers from one management console you will need to use Acronis Backup and Recovery 10 Advanced Workstation.

To install the program to be available to desktop admin users, please try installing it through the command line (page 8 of the installation guide). Please make sure that those users have the following permissions.

If there is anything else I can do for you please let me know.

Thank you.

Ok well, I have 200 Acronis Workstation + UR for all my regular workstations

If I got 2 copies of Workstation Advanced for the desktop team, would they be able to do remote management and create centralized vaults? or does every machine need workstation advanced.

Basically I just want something so I can have an overview of what machine is using what license, don't need to do very much remotely.

Hello HBF Desktop,

Thank you for your comment, and sharing your concerns with us...

Unfortunately in case you need to access remotely a machine, you will need Advanced version for it. Standalone version doesn't support remote access functions and can be managed and reviewed only locally.

Still since you have a lot of machine, we can offer you a cheaper solution: volume license for the product. It's provided by the Sales department only, and I will be glad to specify you the direct contacts of the Sales representative, responsible for your area, via Private message in a minute.

Should you need anything else or have any further questions - feel free to contact us at your earliest convenience, we will be happy to help you!

Thank you!
