How do I uninstall the license server?
Hello, I am not getting anywhere with tech support. I sent them an email a week ago, which has gone unanswered, and I tried their chat a couple of days ago, and when I stumped the guy, he disconnected me.
I have several remote users on laptops with Backup and Recovery 10 installed on them, and the jobs I set up for them keep failing. My users connect through a VPN whenever they need to get internal resources.
I can now easily duplicate the issue with my test machines here.
What I am seeing is:
1. If I simply start up the machine and leave is disconnected from the main office, and either let the job run automatically, or run it manually, it will fail. I look at the license info, and can see that the client is trying to connect to the license server, but is unable to.
2. But, if I connect to the VPN, and restart Acronis Services, the license info shows up and the job runs just fine.
3. If I reboot the laptop, and stay disconnected, I am back to square one. The jobs fail, license info is gone.
After much digging on the knowledge base, I finally found that my issue is a known issue:
http://forum.acronis.com/content/7955
However, there is no information in the article as to how to SOLVE he problem, save for getting a standalone license.
This brings up the main question: How do I uninstall the license server from these laptops?
Thanks

Hello all,
Paul, Emanuele is absolutely correct. You can install License Server on every notebook and manage them locally. This will be the simplest and the fastest solution for the issue.
Emanuele, thank you very much for your help.
Thank you.

Ilya,
I originally had the License Server installed on my laptop, but this had issues with changing network configurations. Later I found this post from Acronis saying that it is not recommended for laptop users to install the License Server on notebooks: http://kb.acronis.com/content/7955. (This is the same link listed in the first post)
Also, according to this post, "If you are going to use Acronis Backup & Recovery 10 Advanced Workstation on a notebook, it is still recommended that you install Acronis License Server on a desktop machine. The notebook needs to connect to it only once every 30 days".
So, I uninstalled everything and followed the directions in the above link to have the License Server on a seperate fixed PC. But, now I am experiencing the same issues listed in this thread, that it wants to connect to the License Server everytime or it will fail. And, your advise seems completely opposite what is stated in thread 7955.

Also, can you convert to the stand alone version if you bought ABR10 AW?

Hello Victor McCartney,
Thank you for bringing up this issue and I will be happy to assist you.
I am terribly sorry for the inconvenience. What Ilya suggested was a workaround in that specific situation.
The problem you are experiencing requires additional investigation. I will send you a PM with the details because this will require screenshots of your license server. I will also explain in the PM what can be done to change to the Standalone version of Acronis Backup and Recover 10 Workstation.
Please let me know if you have additional questions.
Thank you.
