I see that the software can do a live image by installing the software, but no where is there information on a cold boot. can this software create an image off of a cd?

Lets say that I have a large USB drive. Can I boot my PC off of a CD and make a complete image of the HDD onto the USB drive? then if my PC was to crash I would be able to boot off of the CD and restore my HDD (or a replacement) from the image on the USB drive?

Basically I can not install any software onto my PC, but am required to be able to do the mentioned tasks above

Yes, you can. Bootable media created by MediaBuilder component or the one downloaded from you account can do it. However for trial versions bootable media download is not available (as of now), and I'd rather check compatibility of boot cd with the hardware before purchase.
