Incomplete backup?

Thread needs solution

For complete image backup of entire contents of hard drive to external hard drive Acronis shows 73 GB to be transferred. After completion it shows only 39 GB actually on the external drive. This happened with two trials to different external drives.

With compression your numbers are plausible.
if the log file says success. your file .tib file is complete.
Assuming your are doing a image backup of your drive (versus a file/data backup)
then my expereice is the .tib file is an all or nothing proposition by partition.
for example,.
My laptop has 2 partitions one being about 4Gig the other being the remainder of the 100G hd.
When I do a backup the .tib file is zero bytes for about a minute the it instantly jumps to apx 3gig as the 1st partition ends and the next partition begins. The .tib files then remains at this 3gig value for the next hour as the remainder of the HD is backed up at which point it instantly jumps to apx 53 gig. T
I'm assuming what is occuring is Acronis is working into a temp file and the when the partition is completed the acronis attaches the file header data of the .tmp file to the ".tib" file thus making the .tib file jump for zero bytes to the size of the tmp file just made.

Thanks for the help. Compression does explain the discrepancy. Vincent
