Incremental backups "MARKED FOR DELETION". How to 'Unmark'?

Thread needs solution

Hi all,

I have been messing around with my backups and frankly, they seem not to be valid anymore. Except for the one FULL Backup from 30th of May but after that I have subsequent Incremental backups like 30 or something.

When I tried to do a Full recover from the Incremental backup taken yesterday, it failed. Says that "backup is invalid". I then tried to recover another Incr. backup from 4 days back and the result is the same: "corrupted". I'm quite sure that every single incremental backup taken after 30th of May doesn't comply with the Full backup (30th of May) which I managed to recover and I'm using it just now.

AND HERE'S THE ACTUAL QUESTION & SITUATION:

The thing is that of these 30 Incremental backups taken since the Full backup, the FIRST 8 of them are in the status of "MARKED FOR DELETION" and they cannot be accessed nor recovered. The rest of the incrementals are newer, being the last one taken yesterday.

So I'm quite sure that these subsequent Incremental backups have rendered Invalid just because of these 8 first ones before being marked for deletion, and thus, are "locked".

SO::::: How can I UNMARK those 8 incremental backups so that they are accessible and could be recovered (and then the all the subsequent incr. backups until yesterday might work too)?

I don't quite know what this "marked for deletion" is, since I have always only just deleted them - period.

And one more question (haven't tried this out yet): Could it be possible to recover individual files from this latest (invalid) Incr. backup (I tried to recover it as DISK method - not as files)? That would be enough for me, even if I have to do 3 weeks' work again considering configuration of my OS, but that's okey if I only could get the important files.

Thank You in advance!

Hello Tommi,

thank you for your posting!

You can manually edit a related to this archive .xml file if you use a personal vault. Therefore please open it with text editor, find "marked for deletion" flag and change its value to "0".

Thank you.
