Installation error 06442537

Thread needs solution

Hi

I Cant install the software, we have a Windows 2003 Server and I am trying to install Acronis Backup and can't complete the installation.

Ive browsed to similar topics and Ive tried everything (deleted the registry entries, uninstall, reinstall) and cant make it work, I am attaching an screenshot and the log file.

I hope someone help soon please

Joe, I am seeing exactly the same error and have probably done the same trouble shooting steps as you.

I am running W2003 x64 and previously had a TrueImage v9.1 installation that stopped working and I tried to do a re-install. This install does the same, i.e. it gets part way through then rolls back and gives me an installation error (not as clear as the v10 error)

I am trying with the v10 trial version now. 

I am still trying to find a solution and will keep an eye on your posting. Good Luck !

I have had some success with my issue. I have another similar server running an older v9.1 TI and noticed that the Volume Shadow Copy service on that box was set to "Manual". My problem server had it set to "Disabled". I had assumed that the Acronis VSS Provider replaced the need for this microsoft service and hence left it alone. However, when I changed it to "Manual" on my problem box, re-ran the install - everything worked fine. I still want to re-boot the server to test it all out fully, but can't do that until tonight as it is my main e-commerce server.

But needless to say I am very relieved - I hope this solution works for you as well. Good Luck.

I have rebooted and everything seems fine now after enabling the VSS

I did try to uninstall and then install my original version of TI v9.1. It installed as well, but i could not run any backups. I was getting RPC errors and I also noticed that the Acronis scheduler service had not been installed. Gave up and went back to the ABR trial which I will now have to license - so it works out to be an expensive solution for us.

run --> services.msc --> Volume Shadow Copy (this service must be running)
run --> services.msc --> COM+ System Application (this service must be running)

this solved my problem.

Acronis support, please get on top of this!

Oh, just remembered in another post one of the Acronis support staff mentioned about upgrading to the latest build (11133, i think), but when I logon on to my account the only build available is 11105.

Come on guys you have great products but improvements need to be made elementary parts of the support, i.e. latest builds are available for us to download!

According to the msi log file (not to the screen shot of the error message), the installation of a special Acronis module timounter has failed.

To resolve the issue please do the following:

- launch the installation package and select to extract the files;
- extract the Agent component (Agent for Windows) to a temporary folder: C:\Acronis\
- then go to Start -> Run -> cmd -> and execute the command:

msiexec.exe /i C:\Acronis\AcronisAgentWindows.msi DRIVERS_LOG=1 /l*v C:\Acronis\install.log

If by any chance the installation fails, please provide us with the created C:\Acronis\install.log file.

The build # 11133 was removed from the UK web site due to a compatibility issue. This issue is related to the UK licenses only. We are planning to release a new UK build with the fix in a few days. Meanwhile the build #11105 is placed instead of #11133.
