Kernel panic message with bootable media
Hello.
I am trying to use Acronis to test the backup possibilities on older PCs.
It is a P3, with 256Mb of RAM. The disk I wish to backup is a 8Gb partition, running QNX4 and using the QNX file system (but since I wish to do a sector-by-sector backup, this shouldn't be an issue).
However, when I use a bootable media, it starts to boot (going up to the menu asking to boot from Acronis or installed OS), but then gives a kernel manic error message shortly after.
I have tried to use a boot CD and a boot USB (booted via floppy), and both give the same error message.
Both these medias work, since they have been used on another (slightly more recent P3) and they work well.
Since they used the Linux kernel, I also tried using a WinPE Acronis boot CD, but it also refused to boot.

Could this be because the PC is too old (circa approx. 2004), not enough RAM (256Mb), using the QNX 4 file system (qnx4), or could it be something else ?
What tests could I do to determine the source of the problem ?

Hello Yana. Thank you for taking this case.
I have tried recreating the boot media, both with USB and with CD, but the issue persists and is identical with both of these media.
Could the age of the PC be an issue ? Or the file system of the HDD that is in the PC (but is not booted on) ?

well, 256MB of RAM is tough :)
the following information may be interesting:
1) some while back i had an issue related to "kernel panic" that i was able to resolve by doing both:
- update the motherboard's BIOS
- update the firmware of the optical drive (CD / DVD)

2) also make sure to use the very latest acronis update available from your online account downloads:
- windows installer
- bootable rescue media ISO download
have you tried the most recent update? which version / build number exactly?
3) also check if your system is running stable in regular scenarios. i.e. can you rule out that any hardware issues (e.g. bad memory) or bios / firmware issues exist?
