Linux Server Backup Fails

Thread needs solution

Hi

We've just deployed Acronis to 11 servers running on a mix of virtual and physical platforms. They backup using the default GFS backup policy to a centralized unmanaged vault over the network. One of our physical CentOS Oracle database servers has started getting backup failures when performing incremental backups with the following error messages:

The other two virtual CentOS Oracle database servers (identically configured) are backing up fine. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers

Hello Adam,

Thank you for finding time to report about the issue on Forum, I will be glad to help you with it!

Unfortunately the log you've kindly provided indicates very common errors, which don't shed the light onto the exact cause, though "Read error" point onto the errors on the drive, and we'd advise you to check it for consistency.

We would also appreciate if you could kindly gather the following data:

  1. Acronis Info from the Windows Acronis host machine (if any)
  2. Linux System Report from the target machine
  3. Logs from \var\lib\acronis is any

submit a case with the information attached, and let us know it's number.

Should you need anything else or have any further questions - feel free to contact us at your earliest convenience, we will be happy to help you!

Thank you!

Hi Yana

Thanks for the prompt response. We've found the cause of the issue, turns out this server had a USB drive mounted, and the agent was set to backup all volumes, which was including the USB drive. Unmounted the USB drive and backups are working again fine.

I did have one further question - the incremental and differential backups for the Linux servers under the standard GFS scheme are very similar in size to a full backup - does this sound normal to you?

Cheers
Adrian
