Need Bootable Recovery CD

Thread needs solution

I just downloaded the trial version of Backup and Recovery 10 Server for Linux.

Recently I created an image of the primary disk. Now I'd like to restore that image onto a brand new disk and test out the whole restore process however I cannot find a bootable CD for Acronis.

The manual says to run 'mediabuilder' to create a bootable CD however when I run under Linux I get the following error:

./MediaBuilder: error while loading shared libraries: libfox.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

Below is the output of uname:

[root@spare ~]# uname -a
Linux spare 2.6.18-128.el5 #1 SMP Wed Jan 21 10:44:23 EST 2009 i686 i686 i386 GNU/Linux

Any help would be appreciated.

I was able to resolve this by installing the Xwindows system, then running Xwindows and typing 'mediabuilder'. Not really happy about having to install this just to get a working image of the rescue/restore disk.

Now that I have a rescue CD, it won't let me commit certain changes during a restore because I'm running a trial version.

Am I missing something? What good is a trial version if I am unable to completely test a backup and restore from start to finish?

I'd really like to deploy this but I am not sure I'll be able to justify the $800+ for EVERY server unless I can prove that it will work in our environment.

Hello Zach,

Thank you for your interest in [[http://www.acronis.com/enterprise/ | Acronis Corporate Products]]

Unfortunately, the encountered issue is unclear. Here are the Acronis Bootable Media trial limitations:

- Acronis Disk Director Lite is available, but there is no option to commit the changes;

- Only the recovery functionality is available;

- Acronis Universal Restore is not available.

Could you please describe the issue with the details? What are the exact changes that you are unable to commit during the restore? Does any error message appear?

We are looking forward to hearing back from you.

Thank you.
