Need help creating bootable media for Cisco UCS C200 M2 server

Thread needs solution

I have 14 Cisco UCS C200 M2 rack mount (1U) servers connected to a KVM switch. All are running either Windows 2008 R2 or Windows 2008 (x64). I'm trying to create bootable media so I can use sysprep'd install images to build these systems. I've opened a case with Acronis (01597937) but it is stuck in the 'send us requested info' phase with automated e-mails sent every Friday and Sunday. The requested data has been uploaded to the FTP site so I feel the ball is in their court.

My needs are simple. I want to create a WinPE bootable CD that will allow me to reimage using a sysprep'd image of the OS. I've done this for Dell PE2650 and HP servers by just adding the network driver. I can't seem to get the right combination of drivers installed for the Cisco to work.

Either I have no control of the mouse and keyboard, or it can't see any disks, or it can't see the network to get a DHCP address.

What I'm looking for is some suggestions on what drivers I need to use or maybe a better solution using the Boot Media Builder.

Is there a trick to determining which drivers I need by looking at an installed system?

Thanks in advance for any useful help

No. You have to reply to the their last email too.

I was able to resolve this problem on my own.

The server that I was running Media Builder on had version 2.1 of the Windows AIK. Since I was going to build a WinPE boot image for Windows 2008 R2 I needed to uninstall version 2.1 of the AIK and install the version 3.0. All of this on a Windows 7+sp1 PC. After doing this I could NOT build a successful WinPE image for my Cisco servers.

My solution was to build a PC with a fresh copy of Windows 7 64bit, install the version 3.0 AIK and Media builder, and try again. This time the image I created worked. I'm not sure why the original PC can't create a good image but now I have a solution.

Just thought I'd share my experience.
