Need help in moving backups to an external hdd
Hello,
i have 8 servers and 4 desktops to backup with acronis backup & recovery. The backups are stored on an network share in a NAS-device. The backup runs fine.
Now i want to copy the backups on an regulary basis to other external HDDs which should be in an other physically location for security.
The whole data of the servers are 1,3 TB (1300 GB). I make an Fullbackup every month and a differential backup every day. The data that changed every day is about 30 GB. All the backup files (*.tib) are stored in the same shared folder.
So my question:
What is the best way to copy every day the new *.tib files to the external HDDs? When i only copy the *.tib files, the meta-information of the backups is not present and i can´t access the backups. When i copy the whole meta directory too, i still even cannot access the Backups. Only when i copy everything from the original NAS Backup folder i can access the Files. To copy the whole NAS shared folder is not possible because of the size of the data 8 (max. size of ext. HDD is 2GB).
Thank for any help!
Jens

You may have other alternatives but look at this program which excels at Windows copying. Free for personal use but needs business license.

Hello all,
Thank you very much for your messages. I will be happy to help.
GroverH, thank you very much for your assistance!
Jens Buemmerstede,
There are two ways you can move backups to an external hard drive. You can simply export them manually, but I am not sure if that is what you want because you mentioned, that you want to export backups every day.
Another way would be to export them automatically, if you store your backups in a centralized managed vault.
Please check this thread for additional information.
Let me know if you have any other questions.
Thank you.
