I am thinking about buying a new PC. Can I use my Acronis external hard drive backup to restore onto my new PC internal hard drive? My OS right now is XP Home, will the restore work if the new PC is XP Professional or does it need to be XP Home also? Thanks for your help.

Thank you for your question, I will be glad to assist you!

The success of the scenario depends on what exactly you had on the backed up drive.

Should there be just documents - you will be able to successully recovery it onto the new hard drive (make sure you don't recover onto the partitions that contains OS!)

Should there be programs in addition please note that they won't work due to they should be backed up with the system partition and recovered onto the same OS.
