Not having much luck with Backup & Recovery 10

Thread needs solution

I was able to to load it on XP SP3 and was able to make, recover and schedule backups after quite a bit of fiddling around. I was using TI9 and ECHO before and it worked flawlessly. The version 10 user interface **** IMO and is far too complicated. Then I installed a clean retail version of Window7 and when I tried to install it I could not paste my license key into the window so I had abort. Now I have to use the CD I made from the Recovery Media ISO I download from Acronis. Even that is hit and miss. Sometimes the recovery CD will boot all the way to the splash screen or even further to the backup/recovery options window and then for some reason just reboots the machine. I installed ECHO on Windows7 and after renaming the executable it will make reliable backup images of partitions but has some limitations with respect to recovering backups of file data. Recovery of partition images using the ECHO recovery media is reliable I really wish ECHO could be made to work with Win7 with all it's normal features. I need Acronis for my daily backups but right now I have to do all my imaging manually and that is very inconvenient. Is it just me? What am I missing?

Hello Sir,

Without additional information I can’t be certain of the reasons of the issues. However from what you have told me this may be the possible solution.

About the installation procedure. How have you tried to insert the serial number? I can suggest you to use the hot keys:

Ctrl + C (copy)

Ctrl + V (paste)

This should resolve the first issue.

About Acronis Bootable Rescue Media.

Have you tried all boot options available in this CD? If not, please see the below information and try them.

Here is the list of the prompted parameters:

  1. Boots into Acronis True Image directly without any additional parameters. This is the default parameter that boots in 10 seconds.
  2. Boots into the # prompt without any additional parameters. Type /bin/product after the # prompt appears.
  3. Boots into Acronis True Image program directly with the acpi=off noapic parameters. It can be useful on some hardware when Acronis True Image Bootable Rescue Media hangs during boot process or when the software reboots.
  4. Boots into the # prompt with the acpi=off noapic parameters. You can ignore this option for now.
  5. Boots into Acronis True Image directly with USB, fireware and Yenta CardBus controller disabled. Can be useful on some hardware.
  6. Boots into the # prompt with USB, fireware and Yenta CardBus controller disabled. Can be safely ignored.
  7. Boots into Acronis True Image directly with vesa disabled.
  8. Boots into the # prompt with vesa disabled. Can be ignored.

Please let us know the results. If the case of failure I will provide you with the instructions on how to collect the necessary information to troubleshoot the issues.

Thank you.
