Option settings lost after upgrading to v11639
All my settings in the Default Backup and Recovery Options got lost after upgrading to v11639 and i had to reenter them on all my B&R10 installations...
It would be very appreciated that these settings could be saved by the upgrade installer!

Hi!
These options i had set:
Backup options:
- Volume Shadow Copy Service (Create snapshots using VSS)
- Compression level (High)
- Additional Settings (Overwrite data on a tape without prompting for user confirmation)
Recovery options:
- Additional Settings (Restart machine automaticly if it is requierd for the recovery)
All these settings are reset after upgrading to default on all installations. I noticed it by recovering a machine and the computer didn't start automaticly. So i checked the options and saw that the options were set to default.

Edit:
Even if i set the option Volume Shadow Copy Service (Create snapshots using VSS) AB&R does not store it. When i close the options, quit the program and restart it, the value is set back to default. I tested this on 3 machines for the moment.

Hello Forellenblau,
Thank you for getting back to us.
Our Quality Assurance team has successfully reproduced these two issues - default backup and recovery options are reset after an update to build 11639 and the Volume Shadow Copy option getting reset after closing the management console. I will update this thread when I have information about the fix.
As a workaround, please use the backup options in the backup plan, I am very sorry for the inconvenience.
You also mentioned in your PM about re-installing the software, I am afraid, this will not resolve the issue.
If you have any other questions, please let me know.
Thank you.

Hello Anton!
Thanks for your PM and your reply here!
I reinstalled B&R on one machine to be sure if the error persists or not. Sometimes a new install solves the one or the other error.

This is still an issue.
Upgrade to version 12457 reset all our default options and upgrade to version 12497 reset all our default options as well.
Combined with the fact that we have to re-create most of our backup jobs and archives after upgrades, upgrading multiple servers has become a significant and time comsuming task.
One of the areas that make this difficult is the list of exceptions to file backups. We have a list of 15 or so file types and directiories to exclude from backup for each server, and they have to be re-added one by one, every time.
If the settings can't be retained, could you provide a utility to export and import them? If that is not possible, could you provide a reporting tool that would capture the settings and backup job configurations so that we have a list to go by when recreating them? We are now using screenshots of each backup job settings for each server, it is not very efficient.
Thank you,
Pavla

I have an update on File Exlusions. They have to be re-entered one by one, but the system remembers what they were in the previous configuration so that when you select "Exlude files matching... / Add/ File name, path or mask:" and select the drop down, it lists what was selected before the upgrade. This is certainly a helpful feature.
