Presale infos about Acronis® Backup & Recovery™ 10 Advanced Server SBS Edition

Thread needs solution

Hi everybody, i have a server Acer Altos G320 RAID 1 Disk Configuration with Windows 2003 SBS installed as DC, i would like to completely back-up and restore as the same settings in a different hardware (HP Proliant ML 370 G6 with RAID 5).
Is possible to do it? I have to install the os in the new server or i can recover the partition configuration and the data on the disk in the new hardware without install the os?

Thanks.

Hello Francesco!

Welcome to our Forum, and thank you for your question!

Sure it is possible. All you need to do is:

  1. Backup your system
  2. Find the drivers for dissimilar mass storage devices (chipset, RAID controller), unpack them to be in *oem and *inf format and place in one folder
  3. Create Bootable Media - it will include Acronis Universal Restore. Acronis Universal Restore is a special add-on for corporate versions of Acronis Backup and Recovery that allows you to restore your images to dissimilar hardware. It is included into the installation package of ABR SBS Server.
  4. Boot the target machine from that CD and specify the backup, the target location, the path to the folder with the drivers and click "Proceed".

That's all. You do not need to prepare the target location by installing OS or wiping the disk. I would advise you to take a look at the Acronis Universal Restore Guide with step by step screenshots - you may find it useful.
