Problem with ABR10 Management Console GUI
Hi,
I've tried reporting this many times before but got absolutely no response from anybody. I am doing so again with just a little more detail. First off, I am running the most current ABR10 Update 4 on a Windows 7, 64 bit Dell Core I7 Studio laptop. The behavior I am experiencing has to do with the running of the "validation task" within a backup plan. In the attachment named "dashboard.jpg", the GFS plan that is running is the Win7-SSD plan. Yes, even though the backup plan does not show the green "running %" status, the validation task within indeed running. Please note too that the validation task has exactly the same "last start time" and "last finish time". Also note that the Acronis Backup Recovery Monitor that runs in the background and displays balloon messages about currently running task only displayed a balloon for the task's start, not its finish.
Now look at the "log-b4.jpg" attachment. This snapshot was taken about 15 seconds later after the first snapshot. Since all Acronis logs are read chronologically from bottom to top, please look at the 8th log entry from the top. This line indicates the start of the above mentioned validation task. What is conspicuous by its absence is the presence of any log entry to reflect the validation tasks finish time, even though such a time was given on the dashboard. Also worth noting is the order of the log entries moving towards the top of the log. Just how can a task start AFTER it has succeeded, or go into a running state before it reports going into an idle state.
Moving onto the final "log-after.jpg" attachment which was snapped 11 minutes after the previous snapshot. It shows that the Win7-SSD backup plan's validation task does indeed complete, a full 14 minutes after its starts, verified by the log entry at line 3. Only then does the Backup Monitor report the tasks true completion.
While this validation task is running in secret, the GUI interface appears completely idle. You can edit the running backup plan or even delete it, operations I feel are inappropriate for the executing plan. It is mostly an inconvenience, one I feel is limited to the console GUI

Thankx for the reply!
I've made that same observation. This error only occurs in executing the 32 bit ABR 10 software on a 64 bit machine; execution on a 32 bit OS seems not to have the same issues. Your comment about the log's precision suggests that Acronis is using the integer based Window's time structures only to the seconds level. It would seem more appropriate to increase that resolution then to the millisecond threshold.
One other thing I did notice quite by accident about this error is that is does not occur when you execute the backup plan for the very first time after the plan is created. This occurred when I completely removed ABR10 from my system via the MSI install process, followed by completely blowing away all Acronis directories that remained on disk after the removal. Once re-installed, I recreated all the original backup plans and this is when I noticed this quirk.
A final thing noticed but not completely tested for is that this GUI error only occurs with GFS backup plans. I tried it with TOH plans and simple plans and did not get the bogus validation responses.
