Problem with Acronis Backup & Recovery 10 Universal Restore

Thread needs solution

Hi,

sorry, when this topic has been discussed in the past - but I haven´t found it by search.

My Problem:
I try to backup and restore an windows 2000 - system to another computer with different hardware. I made the backup and tried to restore it with universal restore. The mass-storage and chipset-drivers were included. The restore-process finished without errors (except the acpi-error, but i read, that this can be skipped).

When I try to boot the new computer, the screen stays black and the cursor is blinking on the top.
I have tried to restore a Windows XP installation, too - with the same result.

Can anyone help me with this problem? Out customer needs the new hardware in the next days.

Hello Rene,

Thank you for posting. I will do my best to assist you.

I am very sorry for the inconvenience, but there are several reasons for the blinking cursor, which, without exact diagnostic information can be hard to identify. However, we can try a few things that can make this work.

Are you able to boot into safe mode by pressing the F8 key upon start-up?

Perform the recovery one more time, except, this time please select only the partition, without the master boot record. Please check this screenshot for details.

There is a very detailed Microsoft knowledge base article that deals with this issue, you can take a look at it here.

Also, I can suggest this forum topic, where the same issue in discussed, and several additional suggestions offered.

If none of the solutions work, please submit a support request and I am confident our experienced support engineers will resolve this for you.

Please let me know if you have additional questions.

Thank you.
