Problem with downgrade user rights from level local admin to user

Thread needs solution

Hello all,

recently I've downgraded my loacl user account from being local admin to user. Now ABR complains on not sufficiant privileges to access the drives and Backuptasks fail. Else then in ABR 11 there is now option to change user credentials for the task in ABR 10. But I checked already MMS. The account "Acronis Agent User" is member of the group "Sicherungs-Operatoren". Remote Agent Service and Scheduler2 Service use each local System. I also added "Acronis Agent User" to the according section with secpol.mmc. To no avail up to now.

Switching to a different local account with local admin rights does not solve either. Only assigning group Administrators to my daily account lets Acronis run the task.

So, what have I to do that Acronis ABR 10 will run under restricted local user rights?

Regards

P.S.: It's on W7 Pro without domain, simply workgroup and local user accounts. Backup target is a second internal HDD from which the genereated .tib files are copied from time to time to an external device.

Hello LD,

A regular user, such as a member of the Users group, has the following management rights:

  • Perform file-level backup and recovery of the files that the user has permissions to access — but without using a file-level backup snapshot.
  • Create backup plans and tasks and manage them.
  • View — but not manage — backup plans and tasks created by other users.
  • View the local event log.

For all other tasks including backup and recovery of the entire machine membership in Administrators and Backup Operators groups is required.

For the whole list of required privileges check out Acronis Backup: Required User Permissions for Local and Remote Management

Hello Ekaterina,

thanks for taking the time to answer my question. Particularly because ABR10 is far out of support.

Adding the group Backup Operators to the second local admin account and also to my daily downgraded work account solved it. ARB is executing the tasks now.

I've to enter priviledged credentials when starting the ABR GUI, but that's ok. It was most important that the scheduled tasks start and run without needing interaction.

Again thank you for pointing in the right direction
LD
