Recovery CD works with some but not all backups? What's wrong?

Thread needs solution

Using TI Version 9 and update. After computer crash tried to use a recovery CD, made from the version 9 CD to recover a full differential image of C driver from second drive, D. The recovery CD said that the full image was corrupted or incapatable -- but it recognized backups of certain directories on the CD drive, all made from the same updated V10. I reinstalled XP with SP3 and then loaded TI 9 on the C drive and the update and it recognized the full image on drive D and reinstalled it to C drive without any problems -- thank goodness.

However, why did the recovery CD not recognize the full backup?

Hello Robert,

Thank you for using [[http://www.acronis.com/homecomputing/products/trueimage/ | Acronis True Image]]

I assume that you have met the archive forward incompatibility.

Backups created with a newer build/version of the product may not be supported by older builds/versions. For example, restoring a backup created with Acronis True Image Build 8163 may fail with Acronis True Image Build 8076, or restoring a backup created with Acronis True Image 10.0 Home may fail with Acronis True Image 9.0 Home.

Please note that if you update or upgrade the program, you should always recreate Acronis Bootable Rescue Media.

Thank you.
