Recovery onto new drive did not see all the space?

Thread needs solution

I am using Acronis Backup & Recovery 10 Agent build 10.287

The way that I am using it, is to boot from the bootable CD, and then make an image of the (old) 40 GB hard drive to an external hard drive. I’ve then installed a larger local drive into the machine and restored the operating system using the restore feature on the bootable CD. Everything works perfectly, except the 200 GB hard drive says it’s just 37.24 GB in size. What am I doing wrong?

I have looked through the documentation, but I guess I’m an idiot when it comes to stuff like this, I don’t even know where to start.

Thank you in advance for your insight.

There may be several approaches so it might help to see a picture of what your Disk management (or Computer Management) might show as to how the unallocated space is showing and where the partitions are positioned.

When you performed the restore, you chose the disk option which restores the disk "as is". What you need to do is to checkmark each partition so you will get a chance to resize the main partition. Any diagnostic or recovery partitions must be restored at their same size and sequence. The track0/mbr is not restored in the same pass as your other partitions. It can be restored separately before you reboot.

As you progress thru your settings, if you get to the proceed screen and you have not resized the partitions manually, then you have chosen the wrong options and need to cancel and restart the restore again.
