reinstall from Acronis 2010 after changing OS

Thread needs solution

Hi,
Please bear with me as I am a total noobie. I have Acronis 2010 and I am using Vista, but I want to do a complete fresh install of windows 7 ultimate and need step by step instructions to transfer my saved software/applications etc back onto the C drive after I do a fresh install. I have backed up a copy to an external hard drive and also to a "d partition on my laptop. Would it be easy to transfer them all back to my C drive using Acronis?? I hope so , any help would be greatly appreciated. If no should or could I just leave the C drive with the OS on it but resized(smaller) and would it be possible to run all the appies from the D drive??
any instructions offered would be helpful, i could print them out before attempting anything.
regards
Razz.

Hello,

Thank you for posting your question, I will do everything possible from my side to give you a clear explanation.

It is impossible to restore the applications in itself from the backup file to another operating system, since the operating systems have different registry structure and other differences. You can only restore the specified files and folders (for example documents). Even if you try to recover all files that are related to the applications, you will be unable to modify the registry, that should be changed in accordance to the architecture of the programs.
I may recommend you to install the appropriate applications from the scratch.
Please see User Guide for Acronis True Image Home 2010 chapter 10.4.2. on how to recover files and folders from image archives.
Please do not hesitate to ask additional questions if the provided information is not clear or you need a further assistance.

Thank you.
