Replication and Scripting Question(s)

Thread needs solution

Acronis allows the ability to replicate a backup to another location once the backup is complete. In terms of designing a DRP policy to use a Storage Node offsite, I need to be able to do the following:

1) Perform backup at night, but schedule the replication. It looks like I can do that by allowing the replication/cleanup times in the backup options to happen at a different time. Is that the correct way to handle that?

2) I ONLY want the MOST RECENT backup series (full, diff, incremental) stored OFFSITE but keep all backups to date on the local storage node according to the backup plan and retention policy. So the next time a full happens (monthly backup in the GFFS scheme) I want to delete any and all backups for that machine on the OFFSITE storage node prior to that full backup. Would probably want this done after the full is complete and replicated to the offsite location. Can this be done? How? This is a very critical thing for us to be able to do. Do not want this as a manual process. Would I write some sort of script in the pre/post commands area? How do I write a script?

Hello Carl,

Thank you for using Acronis software.

Your questions are unfortunately not so easy to answer.

Regarding your Questions:

  1. In our Web Help for the product you will find additional information about the replication. It is not possible to configure different times for the backup and the replication. Time planning is only available for retention rules. I suggest to use the command line tool.
  2. Here this article from our knowledge base might help you. It's about staging of backups and archives.

If you need further assistance, I recommend you to contact our Acronis support. More information can be found in our Customer Handbook.

If there is anything else, we can do for you, please let me know.

Thank you.
