[RESOLVED] Problem witch hyper-V machines running on a storage

Thread needs solution

Hi,

I got a Win 2008 x64 with 6 hyper-v virtual machines. In the past i was able to backup 4 of them (the other two are new and not yet being backed up).

Recently i've changed the location of the virtual machines, from local disks on the server to storage. After that, the only way i managed to backup the machines is connecting to the acronis client.

I'm using the Acronis Backup & Recovery 10 Advanced Server Virtual Edition

Every time i try from the management console i get the following error:

Failed to open raw hard disk data file 'K:\VMs\PSMBTrans\Transport_Exchange\Virtual Hard Disks\Exc_transport.vhd'.

having to connect to each client to see if the backups run its kind of frustrating :(

Its anything that i can do to fix this?

Thanks for the help
Tiago

Error 2147754758 in the lowermost error is HRESULT value returned by Windows - it's 0×80042306 , VSS_E_PROVIDER_VETO

I'm not sure how do you differentiate 'connecting directly to client' and 'from management console' - as console is involved in every operation with acronis component (unless it's a command line utility). If the difference is whether you use 'connect directly' from 'all machines with agents' on management server, create centralized policy on AMS and apply it to machines or 'connect to remote machine' from start page or connect menu, specifying credentials, the answer may be the lack of privileges. What credentials are used (admin, domain admin, local user with 'backup operator' provileges? What user is used to run Acronis Managed Machine Service on the agents? Try to change mms user to domain admin and try to create a new plan after that.

Hello Tiago,

Thank you for using Acronis software.

I want to thank dev-anon for your assistance.

I am not sure, but it looks like you are using a mapped drive for your storage of vm’s.

Please ensure that the storage of the vm’s is visible as local drive of your server. Otherwise, the backup of these machines will fail.

Please let me know if you have additional questions.

Thank you.

Hi folks,

dev-anon
I've set all acronis services on the managemment server to be run by the local administrator (the machine is not on the domain).
I tried to create a new backup on the management server, but got the same error.

On the client machine, i got the agent running with the local system and and the acronis managed machine service running with the domain admin.
Should i change this to run every service with the local admin from the management server?

The storage where the virtual machines are stored it's two ISCSI disks, being showed as two local drives.

thanks in advance
Tiago

On the client machine, i got the agent running with the local system and and the acronis managed machine service running with the domain admin.

It's normal. The only Idea is to check credentials you use in backup plan when creating it connecting directly to client machine, and policy credentials seen under 'advanced view' in backup plan/policy creating page. (I assume that you create centralized policy and deploy it to agent or groups)

Hi,

Found another problem (i hope this is the main problem and as soon i solve this one, all others go away :D). Hi discovered that the licence has gone away, dont know why. I didnt manage to put it again, so i just reinstaled acronis. when i put the licence, i dont have the option for the hyper-V agent, so i hope this is just a licence problem and nothing else.

i'l just check the licence for now, and leave the installation in standy

Thanks for your help guys.
Tiago

Hi,

Finally got it working. the problem was indeed with the licence.

All working now.

Thanks for your help
Tiago
