Restore, Deleted file recoverable?

Hi All.

I have previously made a backup of my drive and now need to restore it back onto my laptop before I sell it to somebody.

I was wondering when I made the image of my hard drive, did it image the deleted files that I have previously deleted.

I just don’t want the buyer to be able to retrieve my deleted files.

I hope all this makes sense.

It doesn't back up deleted files (unless you backed it up sector-by-sector), however the restore process will not wipe the free space - if you have deleted files in some area of the disk that will not be used during restore, it may be recovered.
