restore doesn´t work

Thread needs solution

hi

i´ve installed the acronis workstation 10 on afresh installed domain member.
the user is a local admin.
the installation of acronis worked, also the creation of an image of/from the first partion on the second worked perfectly.
when i try to restore the image after rebooting the laptop the vaults (in german depots) arent there. so i cant access the image and cannot restore it.
i get one error message -> see attachment

is this an acronis failure code or am i doing something wrong?
what user is supposed to be used? the user i´m logged on is absolutely sure in the group of admins.
what will happen if i use another user?
could acronis work whitout an user with admin rights? as a domain user?
what rights needs an user to create and restore (!) an image?

thx in forward

Hello Thomas,

I am familiar with the issue you are experiencing and will do everything possible from my side to provide you with the complete resolution.

Acronis Agent installation automatically creates the __acro_subst_user__ local user for network share browsing.

For the purpose of running Acronis Managed Machine Service, Acronis Agent installation either offers to create automatically a new local account: Acronis Agent User by default, or to use the existing account (note that a domain administrator account is preferable in domain environments).

The error occurs if any of these accounts does not have the Log on as a service security right. During the installation, the respective security policy is defined automatically in User Rights Assignment on the local machine. But if the machine with installed Acronis Agent is included into domain, then there might be a defined domain policy that overrides the Local Security Policy setting and removes the required users from the Log on as a service policy.

The Error occurred while creating registry subkey message shows that the user under which Acronis Managed Machine service is running does not have access to the following registry key:

  • Windows 32-bit: HKLM\Software\Acronis\BackupAndRecovery\Settings\SubsUsers\
  • Windows 64-bit: HKLM\Software\Wow6432Node\Acronis\BackupAndRecovery\Settings\SubstUsers\

Make sure that __acro_subst_user__ account and the account used for running Acronis Managed Machine Service (Acronis Agent User by default) have Log on as a service security right.

You can learn more on how to set the necessary rights in this article, you need the description If the machine is a part of a domain and it is a usual domain member machine (not a domain controller).

We have just officially updated our Acronis Backup & Recovery line of products to the new build under the number of 11345. For more information on the improvements we've introduced in this build you can refer to this page. Please log in to your account on our web site to download the installation file. You can learn more on how to download the latest build in this article

In this build the program doesn't create __acro_subst_user__  account, you will be able to get rid of the issues regarding this user.

Please update the component and see if the issue remains.

Please let us know the results, we should be sure that the program runs flawless for you.
