Restore Fails with "Paused for unknown reason"

Thread needs solution

I backed up my system to two different hard drives and a tape drive. That gave me a total of 3 different backup sets. All verified OK.

Then I reconfigured my raid array, and guess what? You guessed it, none of the backups will restore. All intermittently display the error message "Paused for unknown reason" and then fail.

This error message is totally useless, and as you might imagine I am really frustrated & angry.
What is the issue? I am running Windows 7 X64, the latest version of B&R 10.

Anyone who thinks they are successfully backing up their system using B&R 10 better test by actually trying to restore their system. I have the problem in both the windows application and when booting from CD for bare metal recovery.

Are there any workarounds?

Well I called support and was pleasantly surprised. The person I talked to seemed to be familiar with the problem. He gave me a link to an ISO image, which I could burn and boot from.

That solved the problem.

Kudo's for identifying and solving my problem, still it does seem as if B&R 10 is quite buggy and some of the bugs are pretty serious.

I have the same problem trying to do a system restore to my test server. I am using the SBS edition, how do I access this patch ?

Ray,

What happened for me was that Acronis sent me a link to a new file to use in creating the emergency recovery CD.

I am using the widows 7 version, so don't have any idea whether it would work for SBS, but it probably would because the recovery environment is Linux anyway.

this trouble is another ultra-frustrating trouble.
starting to restore, this problem happened only from restoring from usb drive.

so, let's copy to hard drive the whole archive!

after copying to hard drive whole .tib archive, it seems to work fine.

but few restores after, another again "reason of pause unknown"

so, without rebooting, the space in which I was restoring my partition remains unallocated, and starting a new restore with same settings as the last failured, got me to full restore.

well, I thought, maybe it is a procedure to be done twice....

and now, third and fourth time I'm restoring, withouth rebooting (if I reboot, always appears this error at first restore) and I don't know if it will go to end.

but I checked and verified the archive still created it.. and "all ok" was the reply of software.

acronis guys, these troubles are very very very very very very very very very very very frustrating, how it is possible these are happening? I could understand if the archive was really detected as bad or corrupted, but in these situation the decision is RANDOM... it is absurd!!!!

I have also seen the unknown reason and reported it. No viable response yet.

What build is the new CD support sent you?

Hello all!

Thank you for reporting about the issue and for your patience.

I carefully reviewed all the posts and contacted the Experts team to make sure that they are aware of the issue - they are. But still it is difficult to say what exactly is wrong due to the product reports this error when it requires interaction - and there can be several reasons for that. First of all let us try resolving it by using the newer Acronis Bootable Rescue Media - since in case there is a glitch in the Bootable Media itself updating the media may help us. In case not - it will help us to localize the issue.

You can obtain the latest Acronis Bootable Rescue Media of the product directly from your account: please kindly log in and go here, choose the Bootable Media option as shown in the screenshot and download it.

After that please kindly burn the ISO image using appropriate writing software such as Nero or Roxio Easy CD Creator which runs on your computer. In case you are not familiar with the ISO burning I would advise you to check the following KB article for the details.

Should the issue persist, please, kindly contact me via PM with the details - I would like to create the case for you and proceed with the investigation, as far as we will need to review each case separately.

As soon as we have the cause and the solution for the problem I will updated the thread with the detailed information.

I would also like to ask you not to post your personal information like e-mail address and phone number to the thread due to security reasons: our forum is an open community, and we are not protected from the visits of spammers.

Thank you for cooperation and understanding!
