Restore TIB file to Virtual Machine

Thread needs solution

I am asking this question here as well as on the Fedora forums for completeness.

OK so I have a Dell Vostro 3700 with Windows 7 Pro. I like Linux and wanted to see how my machine would perform with Fedora 16. I used my co-worker's Acronis Backup & Recovery 10 disk to backup my entire system to a network location.

I installed Fedora 16 and ran the Virtual Machine Manager to create a new VM. Obviously using the TIB didn't work. I had the VM boot to the CD but when it was time to choose my restore file, it seemed network support was not available I couldn't browse the network. I moved the file to the local filesystem and tried again. This time I could see the TIB file but I got some weird error messages about not being able to mount the TIB.

I found screenshots online for a conversion tool to make the TIB something more compatible but I don't see that in any of my Acronis menus.

What are my options to make the TIB file useful in a virtual environment?

but I got some weird error messages about not being able to mount the TIB.

Without screenshots it's hard to say - may be they are not that weird indeed?
