restored backup will not boot
I created a backup of a Novell OES2 (sles 10) server to a network file.
When I restore either the disk or volumes, the restored system will not boot.
I get "No Operating System".
Both systems (source & target) are identical Proliant DL380 G4 Servers.
Any suggestions on how to troubleshoot?
There are 2 disks. The first has 2 partitions, the linux swap, and root, it uses the reiser fs.

Dear Alberto!
Thank you for opening the thread and for specifying the detailed description of the issue. I entirely understand the problem and will be glad to help you with it.
The issue was caused by changing the ID after recovery, so in order to work this issue around we can recommend you to edit the /etc/fstab file on your source system and use physical name conversion for mounting your partitions. So it should look like /dev/cciss/c0d0p1, /dev/cciss/c0d0p2, etc.
Should the issue persist, we will need to take a closer look at the issue, so I would appreciate if you could kindly provide us with:
- Linux system report from source machine and /etc/fstab output from target (it can be achieved by booting into Linux rescue mode from any installation CD).
- The exact backup and restore options (preferably a screenshot).
Currently you can make you machine bootable by editing the /etc/fstab file on the restored system in rescue environment.
I would appreciate if you could kindly keep us updated regarding the issue.
Should you have any further questions or face any difficulties - just leave a comment here, and we will definitely help you.
Thank you for cooperation!
