Restoring Image from deduplicated vault not possible from any bootable media?

Thread needs solution

Hi,

I have made both image backups to a local depot and to a deduplicating vault. The latter seemed to me the much smarter approach. Until yesterday.

I managed to damage my ABR10 installation, so I could not start it any longer.
Well, I thought, lets not waste time and just restore the latest image from the day before from the deduplicating vault, using a bootable CDROM with the software on it.
... the software fails with an unknown error each time and leaves the partition in really damaged state (worse than before).
I tried both Linux and PE version of bootable media, same effect.

Seems like restoring from deduplicating vault is only possible from a working ABR10 installation and not from any bootbale media version.

Is that true?

Has anyone here any suggestion on how to restore from such a vault using bootable media?
