Restoring from one HAL to another

Thread needs solution

I am using Acronis backup and recovery advanced server (10)

I have an existing system which I have backed up onto a SATA HDD.
I want to restore the image onto another computer (different).

how can I do this so it will boot into the OS safely? is it possible to do?

The answer to your question Ahmed depends on what OS is being restored, and how different the hardware is.

Colin,

the OS is WS2008R2. the hardware is different in terms of the mobo and the HDD Setup. the mobo is an Asus P6X58D-E and the HDD Setup WILL BE Raid0. the previous system was NOT RAID0.

after reading and contacting support, they said it IS possible to do. And then I bought UR 11 license and currently having issues with it (surprise surprise)

Ahmed,

Your main problem will be the chipset and AHCI drivers, however UR should allow you to load in the RAID/AHCI and motherboard drivers. You'll still have a the problem of having to re-activate 2008R2.

What is not working in UR?

I'm off to bed now, so I won't be replying until tomorrow.

Sure no worries Colin,

yes of course. I'm aware the problem I would have would be the chipset drivers etc... and re-activation is not a problem either for me.

The problem I face with UR 11 is that it just does nothing. Take a look:

and it just stays like that.
