Restoring Windows 2003 Server: Error- Cannot find VMBus driver for Windows 2003

Thread needs solution

I have a windows 2003 server image which I am attempting to restore as a virtual machine hosted by microsoft's hyper-v on a windows 2008 R2 hostnode.

I'm using the Acronis Backup and Recovery 10 bootable cd with Universal Restore selected. When the restoration completes, I recieve an error stating: "Cannot find VMBus driver for Windows 2003." On reboot the system cannot find the system disk.

I have attempted to load a vmbus driver found on a windows2008 server, but it was not accepted. Has anyone else run into this issue and discovered a solution?

Any help would be appreciated.

I'm not sure if this will help but I found the following URL that might offer some useful details:

"When I open Device Manager in the guest operating system, some devices are listed as unknown devices.
Cause: Device Manager does not recognize devices that are optimized for use in virtual machines and run using Hyper-V until integration services are installed. The unknown devices that are identified in Device Manager differ depending on the guest operating system and may include: VMBus, Microsoft VMBus HID Miniport, Microsoft VMBus Network Adapter, and storvsc miniport."
