SBS Backup & Recovery License Not Recognised

Thread needs solution

Hi,

I purchased Acronis SBS Backup and Recovery 10 Advanced Server in July 2010. After many recent issues with backup failing, I decided to un-install and re-install the product on the same Windows 2003 SBS Server.

I installed license server and pasted the product key I had from 2007 into it. When I open license server, it seems to have the right key in there.

But when I try to install the other components, by selecting "Install Acronis Backup & Recovery 10", then "Fully-functional Acronis Backup & Recovery 10 (Requires License key)" I get the message "There is no license key appropriate for the current operating system on the specified license server".

In the Select Components screen, the Agent for Windows, Agent for Hyper V, Tray Monitor and Bootable Media Builder check boxes are grayed out so I cannot install the product.

I only want to install this on and backup on this one Windows SBS 2003 box.

Please help.

Thanks.

Hello Jonathan Salton,

Thank you for posting this question in our forum. I am happy to assist you.

Can you please check, if you are using a Microsoft Small Business Server? To do this, go to Start -> type winver and press Enter. If you want, you can post the screenshot of the output here. Also there is this article in our knowledge base, that provides information about the recommended components for your scenario (Please do not install the Upgrade Tool).

I am looking forward to your reply.

Thank you.

Hi Peter,

Winver output is attached. This is the same box and operating system that Acronis 10 was installed on before. So it should work. All I did was un-install Acronis then try to re-install it. I havent touched the o/s.

Thanks,

Jonathan

Hello Jonathan Salton,

Thank you for your reply.

It might be necessary to clean the system before re-installing the software. You can do this by uninstalling the remaining Acronis components and then using this Micorosoft FixIt to remove all old entries, that might cause this problem.

If there is anything else we can do for you, please let me know.

Thank you.

Hi Peter,

Thanks for this. The Microsoft tool wont run on this machine as it is 32 bit. The tool is for 64 bit machines. Is there a 32 bit version?

Regards,

Jonathan

Hello Jonathan Salton,

Thank you for your reply.

You are right, the FixIt works only on 64-bit systems. Sorry for the confusion. In this situation, you may need to run the cleanup utility. See this article in our knowledge base for more information about.

If there is anything else we can do for you, please let me know.

Thank you.

Hi Peter,

Thanks for your advice. I ran the Acronis cleanup utility and it completed without any issues. I re-booted the server. I then ran the following distribution file again.

BackupRecoveryAdvancedSBS.11647_s_en.exe

The License server succesfully installed and I pasted in the key.

Then I tried to install the non-trial version of the software and got the same message as is in the orginal post.

Am I using the correct exe file above? It doesn't seem to like my Windows 2003 SBS anymore.

Regards,

Jonathan

I installed the latest build listed below and entered the license key provided. I got the messages shown in the attachment. Please advise.

You have a license for version 10, but are trying to install 11.5 . You need to download the installer of version 10, or get an upgrade key (it is available for free if you have valid maintenance contract)
