SID change on each restart after Restoring Image

Thread needs solution

Hello,

After each restart of my PC, the SID is being changed shortly after Windows XP boots. I found a file called "autosid.exe" by Acronis that is put on the image by checking the SID option in the restore settings. I can delete or rename this file after one restart and then the SID is no longer being changed. My PC is unique in that the Windows drive is protected by an enhanced write filter. This is standard for our business customers to protect the Windows image. We have a second drive for data where you can do what you want. I think because the SID is being assigned after Windows boots, the Acronis script is already committed in the EWF and this is why the SID keeps getting changed. In former DOS times, I used Ghost and the SID was changed prior to booting Windows, not after. I believe this is where the problem lies on when the SID is actually changed between the two manufacturers. I'm using AB&R 10 AW Build 11133 rescue media. I also had this problem in ATIEW. Anyone have experience with SIDs and EWFs?

Hello JBswift, Hello Carlos Tricoche,

Thank you for posting in our forum.

The requested option should be available in the 'Default recovery options' or in the recovery plan at the recovery options -> Additional settings -> Change SID after the recovery is finished. The preset is Disabled.

For Acronis Backup & Recovery 10 Help see here. For Acronis Backup & Recovery 11 see here and for Acronis Backup & Recovery 11.5 see here. This option is only available, when running a disk recovery.

If you need additional assistance, you can contact support. You will find all available support options in our Customer handbook.
