Simple daily backup

Thread needs solution

Hello,

I've got a little problem creating a backup Task for my customer.

We have 6x 1 TB USB / eSATA External Backup disk.

The backuppolicy should be:
Backup on Mon & Wed - Harddisk MoWe - full Backup
Backup on Tu & Thu - Harddisk TuThu - full Backup
Backup on Fri 1-4 - Harddisk Fri 1/ Fri 2/Fri 3/Fri 4 - full Backup

On each harddisk there should only be one full backup. No incremental no differential.
The former Backup on the Harddisk shull be overwritten.

---
I have the following problems:
- Simple backup, there is always a incremental backup too.
- Daily backup, Acronis always puts the date behinde the backupname (no overwriting then)
- Turm von Hanoi, ????? what do the 2 Levels mean?

So how can I achieve my goal?

Hello Matias,

Welcome to our forum and thank you for posting. I will definitely help you with this question.

A simple backup by design will have one full backup and a number of incremental backups.

As for the daily backup, at the moment there is no option to overwrite an existing backup. I can recommend to specify retention rules in order to get rid of old backups. Actually, the same retention rules can be applied to your backup scenario because you mentioned, that you only want to create a full backup. I would definitely recommend to check this article that has examples on how you can achieve this.

The Tower of Hanoi backup scheme uses levels, which indicate the number of full backups and rollback periods for each level. For example, level 2 creates a full backup every 2 days and it can roll back 1 or 2 day back. In level 3, there is a full backup ever 4 days and it can roll back from 2 to 5 days back. You can check page 28 of our User Guide for additional information, and if something is not clear for you, please let me know.

If you need additional assistance or have any other questions please do not hesitate to post them here.

Thank you.
