Start up

Thread needs solution

At boot up, I seem to wait an inordinate amount of time for Acronis Back up and Recovery 11 to start. I get a red triangular flag with an exclamation mark in it and the message that Machine Manager is not available. This flag stays on for at least 3 minutes and then disappears and the Application starts OK? Is there anything that will sort this annoying problem out?

Hi Bill

This is nothing to worry about, the Managed machine Service can take a bit of time to start up and finish doing the required checks before it comes online.

You should not see this notification displaying during server operation (if you do it’s best to contact Acronis support and get them to diagnose it). Generally your Acronis management server will only get this behaviour after rebooting the server (which generally does not happen often I would think?) Also as you say once the services have finished loading all will start working well.

If you simply want things to load faster you can look at checking the location that ABR is installed on and making sure there is enough disk I/O available during start-up and we find many servers have Exchange or other intense services also trying to start which required allot of disk I/O and RAM so spreading the load over different HDD’s can help increase load speeds as well as increasing the amount of RAM in the server as well.

Also ensure you are running the latest build of Acronis as the start-up times have been improved further in recent builds so having an older build installed could also be a factor to look into.

All in all I would not be too concerned about this warning after a server reboot it does not mean you have an issue with your server but simply the management service has not finished loading yet.
