Storage Node query

Thread needs solution

Hi there, we have a setup that looks like so:

Server 1: Backup and Recovery 10
Server 2: Storage Node
Server 3: Client running agent

We're in the middle of transitioning all our infrastructure from one network to another using a DMZ as an intermediary in the middle depending on how the box is accessed, so my question is around how the Acronis components communicate with one another:

If possible, I'd like to leave server 1 in place on its existing network, move server 2 to the DMZ, and server 3 to the other network - there is no communication between one network and the other, but both can communicate freely with the DMZ. Will backups still be able to run from server 3 in this situation - that is, with the agent only being able to contact the storage node (which can communicate with both the B&R server as well as the client)?

Basically, I guess what I'm asking is: does the agent need to contact the B&R server before backing up, or can it back up direct to the Storage Node.

Hi Richard.

The agent doesn't need to constantly communicate with the Management Server. Actually, it doesn't need a Management Server at all.
I assume that in this instance You would connect to the agent through an Acronis management console situated either in lan2 (possibly on the very server 3) or in dmz.
The only aspect you would need to take into account is that the agent would anyway need to regularly communicate with the license server.
