"System shutdown unexpted" message on machine after restore

Thread needs solution

Hi,

I am using trial verison of Acronis Backup & Recovery 10 - Virtual Edition with ESX 4i.
what I have done is backup VM on ESX 4i Server.
Then, I did restore for evaluation purpose.
When I start server and log on first time after recovery. I will get the message about "system was shutdown unexpected" and ask me to put reason. This happen with 2 guest OS (windows server 2003, windows server 2008), so far I tested.

my understanding is the backup has been done while VM is running. So, it is not in the save state.
that's why I get the message. However, I do have a few question regarding to this.

1. Is this some thing by design of Acronis software?
2. Will it have any problem with recovery server as it recover with non-save state? I read through some forum about recovery VM from non-save state backup may cause the problem to VM later

I'm not sure wheter Acronis tech guys will come have a look on this forum. but, any advise from any one are greatly appreciated. As, I am currently evaluating this software. So, I can figure out pro and con of it to compare with other products.

Thanks

 Hello Patrick,

Thank you for posting your question, I will be happy to help.

If the backup of the system partition was created in the operating system itself, then the system remembers its exact state when it was backed up. Since it was never shut down after being put into the backup archive, it reports that it was not properly shut down after the created image is restored.
This message appears at the first after the recovery system startup only and will not influence the VM functionality in the future.
If the provided information is not clear or if you have any other question do not hesitate to post them and we will be glad to answer.

Thank you.

Having this "issue" with Win7 64-bit and Acronis TrueImage 2010 Home, but I believe Oleg's answer applies here also. Thanks for the answer.
