Tape Backup not recognized (PowerVault 110T)

Thread needs solution

Just installed Acronis BR Adv Svr 10 and the software does not see my tape backup.
can someone confirm this Hardware works with Acronis?

I have checked our support tools - we do not have reported issues with the tape you have specified. You can run into issues in 2 cases: 

  • you access the tape on Windows 7 or 2008 through Storage Node (it will not be available due to SN accesses through RSM, which is not present in these two OSes). Please check this article for more details.
  • you have Symantec's Backups Exec installed.

    In other cases everything should be fine. Due to the lack of diagnostic data it is difficult to identify the reason, and we will need some additional information. Could you please kindly specify

  1. Whether the tape is set to be free
  2. The exact sequence of steps that lead to the issue
  3. OS of the machine in question
  4. Whether the tape is connected to the machine locally. If yes, and it is set as free, than please kindly do the following:
  5. Download a special Acronis utility
    Unpack the archive to C:\
    Start the command prompt (Start -> Run -> cmd);
    Run the following command:

    C:\tapes.exe > c:\tapes.txt

    Locate the C:\tapes.txt file;

  6. Get Windows System Information File;
  7. Should you connect to the tape through Storage Node, please follow the below instructions
  8. Check that RSM is not Disabled and its Startup Type is set to Manual. Click for instructions.
  9. Prepare tapes for backup using RSM on the machine with Acronis Backup Server installed. Click for instructions.
