TI Home 2010 useless because because Online Backup won't complete
I've depended on True Image for years. I recently made the mistake of activating the free trial of Online Backup after I upgraded to 2010. The task started, won't complete, and cannot be stopped. As long as it's "running," no other backup functions can be run. I've done the following:
1 -- right-clicked the Online Backup task (that says "running" in the "Tasks and Log" window) and selected "stop" but I get nothing but a dialog box advising me that I'm about to stop a task. When I click OK, the dialog box vanishes, and the Online Backup is still "running."
2 -- selected the Online Backup task and DELETED it. This removed the TI icon from the Notification area (Tray) that said something like "backup in progress, 0% completed," but that did no good
3 -- removed the computer from Online Backup
4 -- rebooted the computer several times
5 -- deleted all scheduled tasks and recreated them.
Even after all that, NO tasks will run. Every time I try to start ANY task or backup routine, I get the idiotic dialog box stating that "Acronis True Image is executing another task at the moment." The backup is listed as "queued," but, of course, nothing ever happens.
I've had no trouble with True Image for years, and now, with the "latest and greatest" version, it won't run at all. What, if anything, can be done to make TI realize that it's not really running any task?????? (Even in Process Explorer, True Image is doing nothing -- i.e., using no CPU resources at all.)
Thanks,
Ron

Hello Ronald,
Thank you for using [[http://www.acronis.com/homecomputing/products/trueimage/ | Acronis True Image]]
I am really glad to hear that the program is functional for now. Here is the solution that should have resolved the issue without reinstalling the software:
- Download a special Acronis utility;
- Start the Command Prompt from Start -> Programs -> Accessories menu;
- Run the following commands in the folder you saved the file to:
schedmgr task zap
schedmgr service stop
schedmgr service uninstall
schedmgr service install
schedmgr service start
This should delete all Acronis tasks on the PC and restart the scheduler. Recreate the task.
Thank you.

I am quite disappointed with this software. The fact that you would consider wiping out all of the tasks and having us manually recreate them to be a viable fix is ridiculous.
I had the same problem and this did fix it. I suppose it is better than having to uninstall and reinstall the software.
Maybe you could consider writing software that works properly or at least releasing a more friendly utility to fix it.

Hello Derrick,
Thank you for sharing your comments, I really appreciate that.
I entirely understand your concern and how upsetting the situation can be. So I would like to apologies for the inconvenience you have faced with the software. We are doing our best to build reliable and stable software, but still as far as it is a complicated one and relies on the low-level drivers assigned correctly, and services running in a proper way, there can still be some issues like the one you have faced.
Be sure it is very critical for us, the developers are aware of it, and currently we are working on improving the situation, and making the software as stable and reliable as possible.
I have also forwarded your comments to our management team so that they could be aware of your opinion - it is important for us, you help us to make the software better.
I am glad to hear that the issue anyway got resolved, and will be glad to help you should you have any further questions and concerns.
Thank you!
