.TIB not splitting into 4.7GB files
Hello everyone,
I seem to have an issue with Acronis Backup and Recovery Advanced Workstation (Latest Build Dec 1st). I have set up a custom backup task to backup the C: as a Disc Image. I have also set the option to split the files into 4.7GB files (so that I can later burn to DVD as a last line of defence). The backups are storeded in a central backup storage node on a Windows 2003 Server. I have run a chkdsk C: /f /r and have also installed SnapAPI on the PC that I am trying to back up. I should have several .tib files but instead I have a full 29GB image of the C:
Does anyone have any ideas?
Many thanks

Thanks for your help.
I have double checked and the settings for the custom rules I set and these are fine and are set to 4.7GB split. I had also changed the split setting in the default options to 4.7GB but when creating the archive in the storage node it doesn't split and saves the .tib as one file.

I will try backing up to a different location rather than using the storage node to see if it's a bug?

From further testing this afternoon:-
Local backups do split
Centralised backups to unmanaged network folders do split
Centralised backups to Managed Storage Nodes don't split even if it's set in the options
Any thoughts????

Does 'export backup' from storage node to local folder allow you to set split options? If not, try to export it to DVD directly.

I'll give the export a try, seems long winded and double the work as the .tib should just split.
It looks like managed Centralised Vaults can't contain split .tib files. Must be a bug!! Is anyone else having this issue???

The reason may be that content of managed centralized vault is not supposed to be accessed by means other than storage node. In case of vault with no deduplication, .tib file of single full backup copied from the vault to local folder is recognized by agent (is it, actually?). It will be not if vault is deduplicated.

Thanks for your help and information.
I have not installed the option for duplication on the storage node.
For the time being I have created a central backup policy to backup to a network share and not use the storage node/centrallised vault facility. The backup is now spliting into the 4.7GB files as I set in the default options. This is working fine.
Acronis should mention what we can and can't do with a centralized vault/storage nodes. I couldn't find any documentation to say that the backups can't be split?

I also ran into that problem: .tib files aren't splitted as expected for my managed centralized storage vault.

Hello all,
Thank you for posting your question, I will be happy to help.
Dev-anon is correct, the program was designed that content of managed centralized vault is not supposed to be accessed by means other than Acronis Storage Node. Acronis Storage Node uses its own format of the backup files and the archives can't be splitted.
I will request the appropriate article, this information should be available in our Knowledge Base.
Please do not hesitate to ask additional questions if the provided information is not clear or you need a further assistance.
Thank you.

OK, from that point of view (it's own format), I understand.
My problem was that the storage device (a NAS server) on which Acronis Store Node writes and read backup files doesn't seems to handle big files (a 16GB is shown as empty on Windows workstation via SMB/CIFS but is correctly said to be 16GB via FTP).
