Hello Lars Akeson,

Thank you for posting. I will be happy to answer your question.

The best way to restore to dissimilar hardware would be to use Acronis Universal Restore. You will need to create a bootable media with the Acronis Universal Restore component. Then you will need to boot your machine with the bootable media and start the restore process. During the recovery, Acronis Universal Restore will prompt you for the hard disk drive controller or chipset drivers for the new computer. These drivers are critical for booting the operating system. You can download the drivers for your motherboard on the Vendor's web-site. Please note, if you downloaded the drivers in *.exe, *.cab, *.zip format, you should extract them first. The driver files should have *.inf, *.sys or *.oem extensions.

We no longer release Acronis True Image 8 but I can suggest our latest product called Acronis Backup and Recovery 10.

We have different program versions depending on your operating system.

Please let me know if you have additional questions.

Thank you.
