TrueImageCmdDos

Thread needs solution

Hello,

In TrueImage Echo, I was using TrueImageCmdDos to restore images under MS-Dos (required for some of our projects).

I am wondering if the support of this DOS utility is still continued or if it has been dropped in "Backup & Restore", which would be catastrophic in my case and would prevent me to upgrade.

Thanks in advance.

This is in the help file (build 11,105) of B&R 10 Workstation Standard:

Command-line mode usage under DOS

Acronis Backup & Recovery 10 includes the trueimagecmddos.exe utility for use in the MS-DOS-compatible environments. It is located in the folder where Acronis Backup & Recovery 10 has been installed, by default it is C:\Program Files\Acronis\BackupAndRecovery.

However, I couldn't find the file in the specified Acronis folder or anywhere else.

Yeah, thanks. I have downloaded the trial version for B&R 10 Advanced Server afterwards and found that in the help file as well.

Unfortunately, this file was nowhere to be found, even when I did a full install. There was only TrueImageCmd, but that's the Windows version.

Would an Acronis representative please confirm that this is still supported (which the help file seems to confirm) and if so, where this tool can be found?

Thanks.

Please Acronis, I'm not the only one interested in the DOS tool : please see recent thread here: http://forum.acronis.com/forum/3671

Can you please clarify what happened to TrueImageCmdDos on Backup & Restore 10 ?

Thanks.

Hello all,

Thank you for choosing Acronis Backup & Recovery 10.

Please accept our apologies for the delay with the response.

Unfortunately, Acronis Backup & Recovery 10 does not support DOS based operating systems, even from command line. Tool trueimagecmd is intended for operations via Windows CMD, but not from DOS itself.

We are sorry for the inconvenience...

Thank you.

Well, I must say that it is a major disappointment since the DOS utility named TrueImageCmdDOS was here in all the previous versions of Acronis, including Echo  9.7.

Any chance to see it back? It was working back in Echo 9.7 and I don't think the image format changed that much?

At any rate, I advice that you update your documentation because as MudCrab wrote, the documentation states that it still exists and still is supported.

Thank you.

Hello Lucius,

Thank you for your response.

I will create the requests to the appropriate Acronis departments. I will request the DOS utility and the improvement of the current documentation.

Thank you.
