Try to restore to new hard drive, stops after 10 minutes

Thread needs solution

Every time I try to restore files from external drive to new hard drive in laptop, after 10 minutes the screen goes black and then Acronis reboots from the Rescue CD. Restore begins okay, says operation will take 5 hours. How can I make Restore continue?

Hello Jim,

Thank you for posting your question, I will be happy to help.

According to our database, you are using Acronis True Image 9.0 Home.

1) Please make sure that you are using the latest build of the program (#3854). You can find out the build number by selecting "Help" option, "About". If the build number differs from the latest one, please download the latest build. You can learn more on how to download the latest build here. Install the latest build, recreate Acronis Bootable Media and see if the issue remains.

2) If this doesn't help, please use ISOLINUX file, I am sending it to you via Private messages. Since this version is an outdated one, we do not develop it any more. This file is the latest version available for Acronis True Image 9.0 Home. Please see this article on how to burn an ISO file to a CD disk.

3) Also I may recommend you to install a trial version of Acronis True Image Home 2010 available here, install the program, create Acronis Bootable Media and try it. The archives are compatible.

If you would like to purchase the upgrade to Acronis True Image Home 2010, please visit the Acronis online store.

Please let us know the results, we should be sure that the program runs flawlessly. If the provided information is not clear or if you have any other question do not hesitate to post them and we will be glad to answer.

Thank you.
