unable to remove ESXappliance via AMS

Thread needs solution

I upgraded my software to Backup and recovery advanced 11 release 6 -

 after upgraded software I then updated my esx appliances but ran into issues getting this to happen from the AMS - 2 systems didn't upgrade properly.

I then went to the ESX cluster - stopped the appliance and removed it. Then instead up an upgrade from AMS I deployed a new appliance to the server - this worked fine and AMS sees this ok.  Most of the VM's backup ok

Problem - the old appliance is still in AMS - I try to remove the appliance but it fails (probably can't see it).  I now have 2 old appliances that seem to be associated with VM's for backup.  The backup fails and references the old version of software in the failure.

Is there another manual method to remove the appliance?  where do I go from here?

Hello Tom,

Thank you for your posting! Seems that the olf information about appliances is still in the AMS database and we need to remove it. Please use scripts from the following articles:

  • Please truncate the AMS db as described in the following article;
  • Then run the script from this article on the machine where AMS is installed, use parameter -fix
  • check if the old entries can be removed from AMS

Thank you,
